No. You might make a fortune, but right now it seems more likely that you will lose the lot.

The US presence will continue for years but is likely to be scaled down significantly. Especially if the Democrats win next year. In five years Iraq could easily have split into three countries. Or decided to replace all its money with a new currency to combat inflation. Or gone socialist and decided to ban foreign ownership of assets (Hugo Chavez anyone?) Or gone to war with Iran again. All these outcomes would result in you losing your investment. The only outcome that equals profit on your Iraqi Dinar investment is if they stop fighting, upgrade the oil wells, elect a national government and put a low tax capitalist government in place.

It might double, but there are far less risky ways to make money. If I was going to invest in currencies, I think the one to buy is the Chinese Yuan once foreign exchange restrictions are lifted.
