I am trying to find a company that sold stock in it's self in the denver , 1964 what records should i check

I believe the name of it was' western preferred Insurance' a friend who bought shares in it at that time '1964' lost contact with the company after he moved away from there ,and recently remembered that he even had it ,but no paper work around any more ,any way he said last he knew they had been bought by a holding firm .so finally my question is ,who ,or where would i even begin to find out what this company has become,or if it just went away ie. public records of buisness licensing? buisness bueru ? any Help would be GREAT ! thank you

Based upon the link below, your search may lead to a bankrupt company. From the news story attached to the link, it looks like it was in financial trouble at the time.

Accountants have a reference from a company called CCH which lists all kinds of reorganizations, bankruptcies, etc. Perhaps you can get one to look up this company.

Check with the Colorado Secretary of State's office. They can tell you what happened to the company. They might have an online database.
