I have a Stock in my 401K that is not producing well. How can I get rid of it?

I have a Stock in my 401K that is not producing well. How can I get rid of it?

Ask your custodian to sell your stock. The custodian could be a mutual fund company such as Fidelity or Vanguard or perhaps a company such as Schwab.

Is it self-directed ?

Outside of the-company-you-work-at stock, I didn't think owning individual stocks was common in 401k accounts.

(Side note if you're not working at the place you have a 401k then you should transfer it into an IRA account due to inheritance tax issues.... like just in case.)
