What is the symbol for tracking the Sand P index ?

What is the symbol for tracking the Sand P index ?

It's actually ^GSPC on Yahoo but ^SPX will work also.

SPY is an ETF which you can trade that closely matches the S&P 500 index. You can get quotes on this symbol on Yahoo.

SPX is used by the CBOE for options trading on the S&P 500 index, but Yahoo does not recognize this symbol without the ^.

On Yahoo you can use "^SPX" assuming you mean the S and P 500 index.
