What is sensex actually meant? Sensitive Index. It is an indicator of all the stocks listed at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It is a collection of 30 indices in the stock exchange (blue chip companies), which are a mirror image of the market i.e.they are drawn from various sectors e.g. old economy stocks such as cement (A.C.C. cement), Automobile (Telco),Steel (Tisco),new economy stocks e.g. Infosys etc.The average value is what is known asthe index. It is used as a factor to reflect the trends in the economy at a glance. Sex with Miss Sen sense the "x". Sensitive Index. The Sensex is an "index". What is an index? An index is basically an indicator. It gives you a general idea about whether most of the stocks have gone up or most of the stocks have gone down. It is a barometer of Indian Economy.
