What is Subrogation as it applies to insurance? |
And what does the Subrogation Specialist do? When an insurance company pays your claim it acquires what legal rights you would of had and therefore can pursue the negligent party to recover what it paid to you. The insurance company is subrogated to your rights. uninsured motorist insurance is example of subrogation...a specialist would be one whom handles that type of claim! It's when a claim is settled and the insurance company assumes your rights to sue the party that caused the damage. (someone hits your car, insurance pays for your car, then sues the person who hit you to get its money back) I own a subrogation recovery company that handles subrogation claims for insurance companies so I'll throw my two cents worth into this one. |
