How do i do this..?!? |
im 18 and am becoming totally independent from my parents..i have like no moneyyy and dont know how to get a place to live or anything..i of course plan on getting a job and all that..but how do i get a place to live..with my new job i will be able to afford rent but it says i need like 25000 insurance which i of course dont have what do i do..? requires residents to have a minimum of $25,000 in renter?s liability coverage. You may sign up for a preferred rate through eRenterPlan or provide proof of coverage through another insurance company by presenting a copy of the insurance declarations page showing this community as either a ?named insured? or ?interested party? before move-in. You can probably purchase a renters policy for $100 to $200 per year depending on where you live. The liability portion is cheap, probably only about $25 of the total. You should get $300,000 or $500,000 liability coverage, I have never seen $25,000 liability - the minimum most companies write is $100,000 (but this normally falls under the minimum premium, meaning you can get $300,000 essentially for free). What says you need like 25000 insurance? The landlord is likely asking you to have renter's insurance. That is to protect your belongings, or in case you are liable for starting a fire or otherwise damaging the building or something. Any agency that has homeowner's insurance should be able to help you find renter's insurance. I do not think you know what 25000 is for and why you need it. You cannot do anything until you get money. Land lord needs money -- chances are you will not be able to ge a place to life. If I was a LL I would not rent to you as a person with a job the very first employer... Don't show up at the LL office with a dog. -- Your situation is not enviable. If you are going to be renting an apartment you probably don't need insurance, your lease will specify, but you may want renter's insurance to protect your things (furniture, electronics, etc). 25,000 of protection seems like quite a bit much for a small apartment, have you considered looking for a smaller place? That policy costs about $150 A YEAR. YOu can buy it with your first paycheck. |
