Why did Cigna refuse to pay for the woman's liver transplant?

Just because you have health insurance does not mean you will receive all medical treatments.

Maybe because she was brain dead, and a liver transplant couldn't help?

Liver transplants extend your life, about six months. So, that would have been six more months, brain dead in a coma.

Anyway, if Teri Schavo could be starved to death because SHE was brain dead, I think it's silly to expect anyone to pay for a LIVER TRANSPLANT for a brain dead person.

Too expensive is of course the answer
The ploy of refferring to an accepted treatment or procedure as "experimental" has been utilized by the insurance companies for many years, yet no regulating agency has ever done much about it. This IS truly manslaughter and a true disgrace.
