Why are people suffering from psychiatric or neurological problems denied medical insurance in India ?

Noted your points. But what if the guy / gal were to travel in a bus or train which meets with an accident causing most passengers including the above mentioned patient serious injury ? In that case that poor patient doesn't get any insurance cover due to no fault of his / her's while others do. Isn't this a case of discrimination ? Charge such people higher premiums but why deny them medical insurance ?

same reason it's an automatic denial everywhere else - people with serious mental problems take stupid risks that get them hurt, and occasionally even attempt suicide - both requiring intensive and expensive medical care to fix the physical problems.

Hi there,
the reason is very simple. The insurance company is covering for the injuries, or otherwise, treatment excpenses or life .
agree ?
A person on treatment for neurological or psychiatric illness are the patients who are more succeptible for injuries , as they are under treatment for the more vulnerable medical diseases.
best wishes...
