I will be 65 next year and researching medicare I find it totally confusing.? |
I was checking supplemental health insurance, and the website brought up 365 choices in my area. This is like a bureaucratic nightmare. Has anyone thought of an easy way to choose what is best? The easiest way is to visit a local independent agent that specializes in Medicare policies. An independent agent works with many of the plans and will know the policy that's best for you. The premiums are exactly the same whether you use an agent or not. I think your best move is to visit your local soc sec office and ask any questions you might have. Also it is important to go there three months prior to your retirement date and apply for social security so that your benefits will begin as soon after your birthdate as possible. I think the requirement now is 65 plus 7 months. I am not sure about that. If you will be 65 in 2008 it may be different. Good luck and best wishes. I agree with the person who said to sit down with an independent insurance agent -- one who represents Medicare Supplements AND Medicare Advantage Plans so you can figure out which one is the best for you. The easiest way to find out the medical Insurance for senior citizens is by getting a free life insurance quote. You can then compare them yourself. Yes, the easiest way is to work with someone who's READ all those choices, and has compiled a comparison spreadsheet - YOUR LOCAL AGENT. |
