How Much Should An Insurance Adjuster Make?

Hi. I'm making about 40,000 not counting a company car, and I'm a bodily injury adjuster for car accidents. I've been doing it a couple years. I'm trying to figure out how much other companies pay for a similar situation. Mention your company too...thanks.

It depends on where you live (since the cost of living varies from place to place) and what your experience is. Do you have any professional designations (INS, AIC, CPCU)? Are you a member of your local claims association?

It also depends on what company you are working for. Some of the larger ones - pay better salaries - but your life is not worth living. I started at one of those companies and if you have been in the industry a few years - you should know which companies I'm talking about.

I am now with my 3rd insurance company working as a field adjuster. They are not the highest paying company in the industry. I took a pretty good pay cut to get hired. However, they truly do act like a family and take care of their people. Sure, I could go somewhere else and easily make 10,000+ more - but having started in one of those grind you up companies there is not enough money in the world to make me go back. I'm in a good situation now and not going to leave.

Be careful chasing the dollar. You may be able to go somewhere else and make more - but it may be a much worse work environment to be in.

You need to go to one of those salary checkers, like salary.com to compare in your area. That company car is worth about $6,000 a year. So $40K plus bennies is pretty good if you've got two years experience, IMO.
