Can i get health insurance for only two months?

Hello i just got hired with a police department and in 2 weeks will be attending a police acadamy. The insurance plan I have now is kicking me off i 2 weeks becuase im too old( I was under my moms plan) and my police insurance doesnt kick in for 60 days upon getting swarn in. So I will be without health insurance for two months approxamitly. My question is can I get a health plan that I can cancel in two months and if so does anybody know any cheep but descent coverage I can get for that short of time?

Yes, you can get a major medical plan cheap (with a very high deductible), on a month by month basis.

Which one? Well, BUY LOCAL. Most recommendations are going to NOT be local, You do NOT want your "in network" emergency room to be 100 miles away.

Go see a local, independent agent, who knows which companies have the best deals in your area.

Yes.

You can purchase a policy that is specifically designed to be a short term policy. (Those typically expire after 180 days, maximum. Though you could cancel it earlier if you wished.) If you're generally healthy, that would be the best way to go...premiums are generally lower, because the insurer is only taking the financial risk of covering you for a maximum of 180 days.

Or, you could enroll in a "regular" private policy, and just cancel it after 2 months.

You may also be eligible for COBRA through your mom's plan, but I'd only use that as a last resort...COBRA coverage tends to be very expensive.

If you want to find out about a short term policy, check with a local agent in your area. (You can also get an idea of what's out there on sites like ehealthinsurance.com. But if you want personal service and your questions answered face to face, go with the local agent.)

There are a couple of differnet companies out there that write a true short term policy. We use them for folks like you that are in between jobs and they are typically less expensive than a COBRA plan....they are guarantedd issue and take effect TOMORROW (or the day after you sign the application.) There is no underwriting period so you don't have to wait for a company to say yes or no before they issue.

They won't cover any "pre-existing conditions" - so, if you're being treated for something before you get the policy, they won't cover it.

Just look around for a local agent that sells health and life products. The two companies that I am aware of are Golden Rule and Assurant.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Well, a couple of things you might want to consider.I've had good luck here...http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

Yes, you can apply for individual health insurance, but you better act quickly. When you want to cancel your individual plan, you simply notify the insurance company and stop paying the premiums.

Definately go for the high deductible plan. This will get you a low premium price. It's doubtful you would need a low deductible if you're only going on it a few months.

Consult with an independent insurance agent in your locality. If you are in Texas, my agent is great. Just email me from my website: http://www.health-insurance-low-cost.net...
