Safeco Insurance...Will the price go up if I get a permit?

So basically.....I wanted to get my permit a long time ago, but I lost my school id, and I'm gonna open a savings account at Wells Fargo and I guess I could get a permit..but will the insurance price go up if I get my permit? Or is it with licenses only?

Ok..but what if I don't buy a car, or my parents don't buy me one? The point is..will our insurance cost go up if I get my permit?

they know your age soon your parents will need to put you on there insurance, unless they do what my dad did was have me buy my own car and pay for the insurance myself.

Typically, insurance rates are filed by the various insurance companies that are licensed to do business in your State, and they vary from State to State.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can. Be sure to ask them if they specialize in younger drivers! Some even give a good student discount.

Most companies will only add you to the policy when you get your license. Any way you go, you will still be less expensive to be insured on your parents' policy! Safeco has even introduced some new programs to help younger drivers. Be sure to have your parents check into that also.

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

It's going to vary by state. If you have a permit, you're presumed to be "practice driving". If you are NOT going to be "practice driving", get a state id, not a permit.

Last time I represented Safeco, a driver with a permit did NOT have to be listed on the insurance - which means, it wouldn't go up - until they get their license. But it's been a few years, and that might have changed.

You're going to have to ask your agent.
