Insurance people...I need help with this???

ok me and my friend are starting a house cleaning company service in central illinois and i will like to know..how much will it cost to insure and bond a two people company...with only two workers....

The cost will depend on a lot of things. First you need to check the yellow pages for insurance companies, call and ask for rates.

Typically, insurance rates are filed by the various insurance companies that are licensed to do business in your State, and they vary from State to State.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.

In my agency, we have companies that specialize in small "start up" businesses. You will want to be bonded (and normally cost less than $150 for the bond) and then you will need a comprehensive general liability policy that will protect you from suit, and other forms of coverage such as bodily injury, property damage, personal liability, fire legal liability - just to name a few.

Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that
you will get better service at a local independent agent!

I have to differ with MB about the bond....Western Surety, RLI and others write a Business Service Bond (used to call them Janitorial Serivce Bonds in the old days, MB, and they are a blanket bond - covering the business on ANY job) - they're NOT a contract bond or BID or PERFORMANCE bond - just covers if something turns up missing or "stolen"

Good luck and I hope this helps!

You don't need the bond, unless it's for a state license. Otherwise, you have to buy a bond for EVERY SINGLE CLIENT. They don't transfer over, like insurance does. Read some of the older posts here about bonds.

The liability coverage is going to start at $1500 a year. That's a mighty lot for a startup. And likely you won't get payments on it.

In order to get the coverage - even the bond - contact a local, independent agency for quotes. If your personal insurance is through an independent agent, they'll be the place to start. Farmers, Allstate, State FArm, none of them will write business insurance on a startup.
