Who pays before company assumes liability?

Under major medical insurance, $250 must be paid before the company assumes liability. Who is responsible for paying this $250?

A. the policyholder
B. the insurer
C. the provider
D. the third party payer

The policyholder - it sounds like a deductible.

The medical bill is your responsibility. Even if the health ins does not pay - or does not cover the service -it's still your responsibility to pay.

The policyholder. It's called a deductible.

Er......

Liability has NOTHING to do with a deductible.....especially when it comes to medical insurance.

The $250 is to be paid by the policy holder.

If you are talking about the $250 that must be paid before the 'major medical insurance' "benefits" kick in..........that is something typically elected by you - the policy holder - when you select your benefits coverage.

When the insurance company starts to pay - they are not assuming any "liability".
