I made a change to my insurance over the phone. I was told a specific price but now it is changed?

I got a letter from progressive saying that unless I choose not to, my insurance would be renewed next month at a lower price than I was paying before. I called a progressive agent because I wanted to see if I could now get a better price on full coverage. The agent told me that if I chose to get full coverage it would be simple. She said my premium that was due in a couple of days would remain the same- but my coverage would go into effect immediently. She said the price would be made up in my coming payments. I asked her specifically how much my January payment would be (next month) and she told me a number I liked. I said that I wanted to do it, how do I? She said she could change it right there and that it was already changed.

Well, I have discovered that progressive is now trying to say that I owe almost twice the amount next month compared to the amount I was told over the phone. Should I just get insurance from someone else when it comes up for renewal next month?

You may be receiving a bill for the endorsement PLUS your initial payment on the renewal.

I know your agent is probably closed right now, but,. you CAN call 1-800-PROGRESSIVE and they could probably answer your billing question. Just have your policy number handy and they may ask you for your license number as well. You can even set up an account on-line with Progressive where you can go in and check on your payment status.

If the agent gave you a price over the phone, she probably got it from Progressive's system as we do it all the time. There may be a mis-understanding of the over-all billing procedure but I bet the TOTAL price is the same.....it could even be including your CURRENT payment.....

Good luck and I hope this helps!
