Question for Insurance Agents?

I just got my "Life& Health" license and I want to go to work for a good company. I dont have any money to start off buying leads and I really need some product training. Can anyone suggest a good company for a new agent like me?

Go work for a local, independent agent. You'll STILL have to generate your own leads - from passing out business cards, walking neighborhoods, and making cold calls from the phone book. It's not easy. That's why so many agents wash out the first year.

But for a 50/50 commission split, the local agent should be willing to help you fill out an application, or maybe even send a csr on a sales call with you. AND, they already have contracts in place that you can use.

Ew. I hate insurance agents.

Im not sure about you yet though.

Ew. Demons...

A good place to start is with a carrier. Not sure what state you live to give you contacts. Starting with a carrier will give you good product training. Each carrier has almost the same plans with a few minor differences. You need to get to know the plans and the coverages, for instance, Chiropractic coverage, mental health, hospital etc. Jumping right into an agents office will be really boring because you will not be selling, you will be training. There is so much to know before you actually start selling yourself. FYI - don't buy leads..it's a waste of time and money. Cold calling is the best way to find prospects. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Try Pyramid Life Insurance Co or Pennsylvania Life Ins. Co
they have the training, leads and bonuses for a new agent
