Is insurance sales a good business to get into right now?

Is insurance sales a good business to get into right now?

It's not a timing issue. If you're good at sales, it's ALWAYS a good job. If you can't sell, it's NEVER a good job.

Depends on the kind of person you are. Are you good at sales? Can you deal with rejection? How do you do with cold calling?

Why do I ask these questions? It's a tough sales job. You have to develop your own sales leads, by calling strangers from lists (cold calling) and calling all your friends and relatives. You will go through many leads, before you get a hit.

Health and Life insurance is more difficult then Property and Casualty.

Depends upon the type of insurance sales you are talking about.

If you sell property and casualty insurance like home and auto you have a customer base that must buy the insurance. If you own a car the State mandates that you have a minimum level of insurance coverage. If you own a home with a mortgage the bank requires that you purchase a homeowners policy. So it is an easier sale because you don't have to persuade your prospect that they need your product.

If you sell life insurance it is a different proposition. Life insurance is a voluntary purchase. You have to sell the need to your prospects. Because there is no legal obligation to buy life insurance it is a purchase that many can and will put off indefinitely .

Based on my past experience in life and health insurance industry, I can assure you it's a great business to get into. You'll be your own boss with unlimited income opportunity without any of the capital you'll need for a conventional business. I recommend it cause that's how I started my career and it was very profitable and I really learned a lot that i use till now with other business. and no it has nothing to do with being a good sale person or liking to sell. Good luck!
