I want to get insurance for 10 acres of vacant land in Scottsdale, Arizona. Where can I get a quote?

WHY exactly do you need a seperate insurance policy on this? Do you have a homeowners or renters policy? The standard HO3 or HO4 policy includes personal liability on any vacant land you own, in the entire USA. Vacant means, completely undeveloped. No sheds, no fences, no use. No running cattle or goats on it, no renting it out.

If it's really vacant, you probably don't need a seperate policy. If you DO, it's going to run you about $750 a year, for $1,000,000 of liability. And Scottsdale is a great little carrier for that sort of thing, but you'll have to get to them through a local, independent agent.

If the land is vacant, exactly what are you going to insure? Or are you talking about liability coverage?

any commercial insurance broker

this covers you from lawsuits caused by persons wandering across the land whose parents later claim you should have fenced it to keep their unsupervised kids from falling into that bog

One of the best companies to approach for this is right there IN Scottsdale.......and you guessed it! It's Scottsdale Insuance Co.

Since they do NOT write direct to the public, you just need to call them and ask for a local agent and they should be able to point you in the right direction. A lot of companies have changed lately and are no longer extending coverage from your homeowner's policy to vacant land....so, perhaps calling an independent agent in your local area might be a good idea.

Scottsdale is a GREAT company and we use them here in Texas! Was out there once at the Old West place Rawhide and had some pretty good steak!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

if you have a homeowners policy and the land is truly vacant ( no fences, wells, bodies of water or structures of any kind) and the land is for private use only, than the liability from your homeowners policy automatically covers the vacant land.

if you have a homeowners policy and the property is not vacant (camping lot, vacation home, farm ground, etc.) then you can endorse the policy to extend the liability to the property subject to underwriting.
