My husband has health insurance through his job and we just found out its inactive cause of non payment?

mu husband has health insurance through his boss. it automatically gets taken out of his check every week. well a monh ago i made a apppointment for my husband cause we think he a hernia in the groin area. well when i made the appt the receptionist said his insurance is inactive. i called the insurance and they said its inactive cause of non payment since june5. we were told to talk to the person who does the payroll at his job. well it has 3 weeks and they still are taking out of his payment. his boss is aware of the situation and the payrollee. my husband is not the only employee who insurace is inactive . there is at least 2 more. what can we do about ti. i mean if his boss really cared he would done something already. not wait till 3 weeks later adn my husband and the other gentlemen dont want to risk to losing their job over this. it might be illegal but just because its illegal it dont mean that he cant get a way with it. what should we do about this situation.

Well, first of all, start looking for a new job. Companies that are having solvency problems start by not paying insurance premiums, then taxes, then payroll. So sooner or later, he's not going to get paid.

Then you file a complaint through your department of labor.

The employer is going to be on the hook for any medical bills that would have been covered - fat lot of good that does you, if he goes bankrupt.

You might want to get legal advice on this. If his boss is taking the money out of his paycheck, but not paying insurance with it, he still has it. That's stealing. Contact the Labor Board in your area and tell them. I think they can investigate.

Immediately contact the insurance commissioner for your state.
Be sure to keep track of how much you have paid through payroll deductions in order to get the money back.

This is serious, are you sure that the boss is paying the govt payroll taxes that he has been witholding?????
