Is it possible to have health coverage for your parents? |
Is there a way to have health coverage for your parents (or inlaws) on your policy? We're a couple in our late 20s with a dependent also. Thanks for your insight! No, you can't add your parents as dependents to your group policy, but you CAN try to buy them a private policy. If they're 50 and healthy, it will likely cost about $650 a month. There is no insurance I know of that covers your parents on your plan but, there is a savings plan that you can get to cover whatever health and dental needs they have at a major discounted cost. If you would like the info I would be glad to share. email me at tear_drop31313@yahoo.com Report It MB is correct. If the parents are without major health problems, they can apply for individual health insurance. MB is totally right! Unfortunately, you can't list them as dependents on your plan - it'd be nice, but it doesn't work that way. I've never heard of an employer permit parents to be added as a dependent on medical benefits. (And I've seen benefit plan designs from thousands of employers nationwide.) |
