I recieve ss and medicare and medicade but can not afford to pay an old medical bill.what is my rights? |
i can not afford to pay an old medical bill and have explained this to the collection agency repeatedly.they still call me at least 3 times a week telling me i am a deadbeat,do not sound like i am sick,and other things along those lines. You don't have rights. THEY have all the rights, here. This is an unpaid debt, that you owe. They can try to collect forever, until this is paid. You have to pay it. They can take it out of your SS check if you don't. No-contact your state's Attorney General office or the federal Trade Commission to file a complaint. You can also send a request (I would send it Certified) to cease all communication. If they continue to harrass you, you can sue them for damages and attorney's fees. |
