I was recently diagnosed for kidney stones, and the procedure and emergency room cost quite a few dollars.?

I have Atna insurance and they paid some of it and told me that my insurance limit has been exhausted and that I have to pay the rest of the money from my own pocket. I really can't afford to pay the money because of my financial limitations and others bills at the moment. What do you think I should do?

Thanks,
D

I would suggest like the other folks that you send them a little something every month. Keep track of your account number, so you aren't just sending them checks left and right... As for the poster who mentioned them garnishing your wages... they have to sue you for that to happen. If the balance is below several thousand dollars they will just usually send it to collections instead... it costs them more money to sue you than they might stand to collect from you. I have two outstanding hospital bills right now ( I have kidney stones... VERY awful experience I might say..) and they haven't pursued me at all... just a few threatening letters and its been a few years now... If I could afford to pay them I would, but I cannot right now...

I think you should work out a payment plan with the hospital and doctor, so they don't take you to collections and garnish your wages for the balance.

As long as you send the hospital money every month - they usually do not take legal action against you.

I have owed money for medical procedures and I sent the hospital 50.00 -100.00 per month until the bill was paid - even if they had not sent me another bill - I put a check in the mail to them.

You can call the billing department and work out a payment plan.
