When disability pay is gone, does Pepsico still give me full medical coverage? |
I am trying to prepare for Medicare and I am not sure I will need it. It is impossible to get a hold of a real person at Pepsico so I am posting here. Will you still be disabled? Can you retire disabled and get your medical coverage? I am assuming you are paying for COBRA coverage since you are on disability. Once you become eligible for Medicare (at age 65), you are not eligible for COBRA. It sounds like your employer does offer a supplemental coverage for prescriptions (which is the Part D of Medicare.) But without seeing what the benefits are, it is impossible to answer any further. There are lots of medicare HMO's available that limit your out of pocket expenses for all kinds of coverage--even some that Medicare doesn't cover-like vision, dental and the like. You may need to plant yourself in the HR department until someone can speak with you about your benefits. Aside from that, send a certified letter asking for assisitance. |
