Does my policy cover my windshield?

Does my policy cover my windshield?

If you purchased comprehensive coverage it will cover damage to your windshield. However, you also need to check to see what is your deductible. You can check your policy for this it will usually say "Comprehensive ACV less $___ deductible". If you have the coverage but your deductible is high $500 for example then the insurance will only cover the difference between the cost to replace less $500 which may be $0 or very little.

You can also call your agent to double check if you have the coverage and the deductible if you do.

Good Luck

If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy, your windshield should be covered. The only problem is if you have a deductible on your comprehensive -- you'll have to pay the deductible and the insurance company will cover the rest.

Maybe.
The thing is, windshields usually cost a little over $200 to replace, and since most people have a $200 deductible, it usually doesn't help.

You'd have to check your specific policy - but usually it does.
Before using your insurance, make sure there is no deductible - sometimes you pay more by paying the deductible then you would if you just paid for the windshield outright.
Good luck.

if you are carrying comprehensive it covers it for chips (usually the ded is waived if it is repairable) and cracks cause by rocks, hail, etc. if it has to be replaced you will have to pay your ded.

Do you have glass coverage? Normally, in most states, glass is covered under the "comprehensive" line.

Call your agent and ask them.

Check you policy if you have comprehensive insurance, with no deductible or a low deductible, you could have coverage. Beware of glass shop that offer to "waive" your deductible, most times they are over billing your insurance, which you might end up paying... in the end...

If you do not have coverage, shop around and ask a ton of questions, ask the shop what is their SDAT, if they do not know what that means chances are they may not be the ones you want putting in your glass. SDAT = Safe Drive Away Time .. without properly waiting to drive your care you could be putting you life on the line!
