WHAT CAN I DO?? My kids have to have insurance!! My family is from texas and both of my boys...?

have heart problems. My oldest has had one heart surgery and my youngest 2 heart surgeries. They have always had medicaid and this past week i went to recertify their medicad and they told us that my fiance made too much for them to get medicaid!!!!! No other insurance is going to cover them for 6 months to two yrs with their preexisting stuff!! And I cant afford to pay it all on my own!! I cant work because my youngest requires 24/7 care and has a different appt everyday! So my kids cant go to daycare. They are both suppost to have another heart surgey next summer, How in the hell am I suppost to pay for two surgeries let alone all of the other appts. (one cardiology appt is over 1200 and they each go there atleast once a month) Does anyone know anything that I can do???

My fiance is the father of my boys! And he works his *** off for what we have! AND like i said before no insurance will cover them!!

Well, you're right, no private policy is going to take on your boys with their heart condition.

When you say Medicaid, does that mean, REAL Medicaid? Or your state Children's Health Insurance Program? If you haven't tried the CHIP program, you should. If you've tried it, have you declared your boys to be disabled? If they are, most states will add them for coverage, under THEIR income, not household income.

When you say you're FROM Texas, does that mean you live somewhere else, now? If not, Texas DOES have a "high risk" health pool. It's not cheap, and it's only good for a few years, but it's better than paying for two heart surgeries out of pocket.

When you say their father works really hard, does that mean he has a group health plan at his work that he could add them to? Because THAT is the best thing to do. GROUP HEALTH will "take all comers". There will be a wait period, unless they have proof of prior insurance with less than a 63 day lapse in coverage. Otherwise, you'll have to contact local charities, your church, the hospital where you plan on having the surgery, or even the cardiologists, and ask them how to get help paying for their surgery.

Hope some of those suggestions work for you.

Good luck, maybe your children's fathers can get jobs covering them. I don't know why your finance income would matter unless you are living with him. Since you can't work and aren't married you might try getting on welfare until you can resolve your finances. Maybe you could live closer to your family and get your parents to watch your child while you work or maybe your finance can watch them at night or on weekends so you can work full time at a job with insurance. Maybe you should get married so your finance can cover them on his work insurance.

Does your fiance have the option to get health benefits through his employer?

If so, then simply get married and add yourself/your children to his policy. Generally, a person won't have a problem adding stepchildren to a benefit plan. (Sometimes there are stipulations such as that the stepchildren have to live with the employee, etc. But if your children are financially dependent upon you and your fiance, you shouldn't have a problem.) A marriage is considered a "qualifying event" and he will have the opportunity to add you guys on right away.

That would be the easiest option for you. If you're already engaged and making plans to be married, then just speed up the process.

Edit to add: You say that "no insurance will cover them," but that's not entirely true. A group policy through an employer would *have* to accept them if they are eligible dependents of an employee. If your fiance doesn't have access to health insurance through his current employer, he may want to seek out employment through another company that offers health insurance as a benefit. (Since you aren't able to do the same, due to not being able to work to care for your children.)

If you were over the guidelines for medicaid, your worker should have automatically referred you to the state CHIP program. You will have to pay a small enrollment fee to get them covered and there are small co-payments for some services, but there is no pre-existing.
