Question about preexisting health condition coverage?

Guys we always see in terms n conditions of health insurance companies that "preexisting condition will be covered after 1 year of continuous coverage". my question is if i already had 6 month coverage in a company , then moved to another, will the new company consider that earlier 6 month and give me coverage for my preexisting condition after 6 more month of membership with them?

Generally, yes.

The pre-existing exclusion period is generally reduced by the amount of creditable coverage that you had, even if you only had enough prior coverage to get part of it waived.

Every policy I have ever personally seen has provided for that partial waiver. (However, I can't guarantee you that every policy that exists will do it...you'll need to check with your new insurer to be certain. I'd be fairly optimistic that you'll get good news, but it never hurts to double check!)

So long as there has not been a gap of more than 63 days without coverage, it is possible that you may also be given credit for any coverage you had before the six months of coverage, lowering or eliminating the twelve month waiting period.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) amended the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), to provide new rights and protections for participants and beneficiaries in group health plans.

HIPAA contains protections both for health coverage offered in connection with employment and for individual insurance policies sold by insurance companies. If you find a new job that offers health coverage, or if you are eligible for coverage under a family member's employment-based plan, HIPAA includes protections for coverage under group health plans that limit exclusions for preexisting conditions.

Most plans use the standard method of crediting coverage. Under the standard method, you receive credit for your previous coverage that occurred without a break in coverage of 63 days or more. Any coverage occurring prior to a break in coverage of 63 days or more is not credited against a preexisting condition exclusion period.

Yes.
