Any one here is a insurance agent? is a good job?

recently i got offered from 2 life insurance company for job offering but need training prior hired i think, they are america income and and United American's. Are they good company? what is salary expect for first timer agent like? is it depend on how many client i get?

youll be asked to call everyone you know and then ask for refferals and or call strangers on the phone at home

Can you do this??????

I did and moved onto bigger and better areas of the business 25 years after starting

The beginning was not pleasant !!!!!!

United American is a good company. are you willing to put 5 years into the career, although first year commissions are good, but it takes at least five years to build a good client base, and to build up on it. Plus the getting a state licenese and keeping up on educational ends. are you good with people? and can you sell? Because u will be required to be good with people and sell the life and health products.

Insurance, depending on the company, could be contradictory or deceptive. You need to ask lots of questions, for you will see, virtually all insurance companies want you, since they all have revolving doors, as many people do not make it.
It involves lots of work, knowing lots of people, having networking, belonging to groups, schools, organizations, etc. You will need to first sell to friends, family, and neighbors, or their friends, family, and neighbors. You could lose your friends, family, and neighbors also.
Look into many many companies, before deciding on anything, because although they may be similar, they all do things differently.
Look into if they provide leads, and how old these leads are, how commissions are set up, travel, expectations, quotas. A well known company is an advantage usually.
Listen to, but don't get brain-washed to all the hype, and parade of people you will be shown, told about, and have to listen regarding how they made millions daily, and how easy it is.
Everyone will be so kind to you, because they will all take a piece of your action when you sell a product. So don't let this sway you.

Sure, they're fine companies. But there isn't ANY salary. It's straight commission. You don't sell, you don't get paid. Period.

95% of agents can't make enough to cover their licensing costs. They wash out.

So, can you SELL?

It has been a great career for me, although my first year was a little rough financially, now things are pretty good.
