What are third party providers in health insurance?

What are third party providers in health insurance?

Doctors that are not directly contracted with the insurance company. These doctors can charge you their full fee, as opposed to the contracted fee, and usually require you to deal with your insurance company for payment, meaning you'll have to pay them at the time of service. Also, insurance companies generally reduce or eliminate benefits for out-of-network care so you won't be reimbursed as much, if at all.
