Job Market/Nightlife in Indianapolis?

My fiance and I are considering relocating to Indianapolis to start out careers, he has just graduated college with a Bachelors Degree in Business/Econ and will be graduating with an Associates Degree in Business in May. Forbes has listed Indianapolis #6 for cities with good job markets.. I was looking to see if anyone would be willing to agree with them??

We currently live in NJ.. you would think it would have been easy finding a job being so close to NYC... there is absoultely nothing entry level, and we do come across something that sounds ok it is a scam. We are both living at home and strive to move into an apartment and begin our lives/careers together. It just doesn't seem possible to do that in NJ when the starting salary is around 25 -30,000 and a studio apt is $1200 a month........ I have also been researching the housing in Indianapolis and it is a thrid of that!

Please if someone could fill me in on the job market,nightlife,shopping,car insurance ETC.

Nightlife in Indy is not up to BosWash standards but adequate and diverse. One thing to keep in mind is that public transportation is virtually nonexistent. You drive everywhere.

Housing is pretty cheap with home ownership very attainable due to the overall slump. Lots of good homes are sitting empty right now. The housing slump has meant that a lot of the crappier apartment complexes are emptying or exclusively low-income while the nicer ones are packed. 1-3 bedrooms are all over the place for $600-$1000, depending on the quality of the property. Lots of condos, too, as some folks have opted for the cheap houses.

The job market isn't the greatest. I suggest you make sure you have something firm before you make your move.

You both sound sharp and focused on an amazing future. I recommend that you consider a home business. Legitimate opportunities are out there and with your background you guys could make a ton of money. Actually, we've been doing it for over 2 years and love it! Indianapolis has tons of bars.... Job Market not so good... It's possible to get entry level with a Bachelors degree... I don't know why Forbes said we were booming...because quite frankly... We are not... There are not that many nice places to live in Indianapolis, but if you move to the outsides areas around Indy, you'd be better off... Over priced for junk.. But, thats just my opinion....

I have to disagree with Nikki. If you live on the North to North East sides of Indianapolis, you will find decent housing and a good job market.
