Can i get a job i am only 11?

i need a job

I agree with what the other answerers said. I don't think I'm alone in saying that if I had a neighborhood kid knock on my door and say "My name is ____ & I live right down the street. I'm trying to save some money and just wanted to let you know if you have any odd jobs that you need done I am available to do it," I would be pleasantly surprised and would probably be able to come up with lots of jobs on the spot that you could do as YOUR time permits.

Be sure to make a simple "flyer" that has your name and phone number, and any jobs you can think of that you are especially good at or interested in...(mowing, dog walking, weeding, etc.) just so that if they are busy at the time or can't think of anything immediately, they have your contact information when and if they do come up with something!

Also, if you do this, and are using your family's phone line (unless you have a cell phone? ...not sure if 11 year olds do nowadays! :) ) be sure to give your family a head's up that you might be receiving calls and provide an easy place for them to take any messages for you. (just a simple notebook by the phone) so that you aren't creating a hassle for anyone else in your household. Hopefully your mom or dad is already aware of your job and supportive, but I'm talking more about siblings...make sure your little sister/brother (if you have one) knows to politely ask for the caller's name and number and tells them that you will get the message and will call them back, so that you don't lose business just because they think leaving a message is a waste of time!

...where are you located (in general)? What side of Indianapolis? ...if you are near me, i have lots of odd jobs you could do! if not, maybe another answerer might happen to live nearby and can get you started.

(...last word of warning...i'm sure you've been told...be CAREFUL out there...Try to just approach neighbors you already know if possible, always let your mom or dad know where you are, and if for any reason you just don't feel comfortable working for anyone, don't take a chance, and trust your gut and find work with someone else. Protect yourself and be smart! Good luck!! :)

Probably after you finish cleaning up your room. Go around your neighborhood and ask people if they need help doing any chores and get odd jobs.

legally no you can't, but i would try and do some odd jobs for people to earn a little cash, if you have elderly people areound you offer to do there grocery shopping for a small fee or even water there plants or something, or try baby sitting.

Go to real estate offices and advertise door to door flyer distribution. 10 cents a flyer. Put on your roller skates and get to work. Agents are much older and give up on their door to door canvassing, but are always willing to pay someone to do it.

P.S. Talking to your neighbors about what you can do for money can also help. Want to pull weeds, cut lawns, walk a dog, clean the poop from the yard! If you are sweet and reliable there will be plenty of work.

dude! i admire your enthusiasm! but sorry kiddo, you can't have a real job yet. you categorized this question under indianapolis, so i assume you're a hoosier. taking that into account. all four of our seasons have yard work that needs to be done. raking leaves, cutting the grass, and shovelling snow. good thing these new pieces of technology like the leafblower are now availiable. first introduced after i turned 11. too bad you can't run a lemonade stand these days. besides you got about 5 years and you can get a regular 9 to 5 job. good luck little dude!

Talk to your local newspaper about a delivery route. My 5 year old son had a route for over a year ( I helped of course), but the money was all his. (He learned a lot about money, saving, and spending - have to let them have a little fun)

The best option you have is to be creative. Mowing lawns and babysitting, dogsitting, or dogwalking are always options, but do you have any particular skills that you might be able to use? I do a lot of cross stitch, and people are always telling me I should sell some. If you sew, are good at carpentry, computer programming, anything that most people aren't good at, you can set yourself up in your own business. My husband has built model rockets for over 40 years, and many of them were his own designs. Now he's making them into kits and selling them on the internet.
