Why can't I find a job in Indiana!?

Seriously...?

I am in the northern part of the state. By Lake Michigan. I am in college. My second year of adult studies in business. I have office experience. I have tried Monster, Career Builder, and 2 local papers. But I've found nothing. I am a stay at home mom so I don't get many chances to get out and search. My husband works swing shifts is another reason I can't always get out to search. I am pretty much limited to the computer. If I find places that are hiring online I can set up a babysitter to fill out the application...but other then that it's online only.

where in indiana are you? what do you do?!?!

I'm pretty familiar with the northern party of Indiana, are you in one of the smaller towns? Or are you close to a larger city? What are you interested in doing? (i.e. professional or just any part time job to get some income?)

try craigslist.org if you haven't already. Post a "job wanted" ad for free too.
Try a temp agency. They often lead to full time or permanent jobs if you fit well.
If you are willing to do "other" work (i.e. not directly related to your major) be creative!
Post an ad in the local paper saying that you can help with "Light office/home office work," errand running, organization (if you are the organized type) , even cleaning or babysitting. (you could babysit in your own home so you can stay home with your kids!).

I know I would LOVE to have someone that I can call occasionally to help out with small tasks like those listed above...and if you become that helping hand for a few people, it should be enough to keep you busy....and cash pay to boot! :)

...also, your college should have a career office that can help with paid internships or part time jobs in your field!

Depends on what you are looking for and what your expectations are. God Bless You!!!

What line of work are you in? Have you tried Monster? Sometimes it is just a matter of putting the word out there. Talk to friends, family and let them know that you are looking. Good luck. By the way-post a question telling us what you are looking to do and someone may be able to help you!!

There are plenty of jobs to be found if you know where to look! Try the Sunday Indianapolis Star's job listings. Also check Monster.com.

If there is a particular industry or business you'd like to work for, see if they have a website. If so, most of them have a link for employment opportunities.

There are a lot of jobs out there. However, if you are a high school dropout looking to make $100K per year, yes - you're not going to find a job in Indiana.

It would help if you were a little more specific - education, field of interest, etc.

Good luck in your job search.

Are you able to work at home? Here's a website for a company that has "at home" agents who do customer service and pre-screening for their clients.

A friend of mine who's soon to be ex-wife does this and makes $12-$16 an hour. I don't know a whole lot about it, other than it is legitimate. It's worth a shot.

My only other suggestion is to network. Are there any stay at home mom groups? Here are a few that I found. I hope this helps.
