I have a commercial gas range/stove. The stove top has whitish rust on the top. How do I get this clean?

It has been used very little but poorly so. Not taken care of very well.

Sand the rusted area until the rust is gone. Touch up with enamel paint you can get at Menards or Lowes.

Bartenders Friend will work awesome on that.

some can come clean with the use of "elbow grease" others may require something like SOS steelwool pads but be careful to scrub in the path of the grain as to perserve the finish

First of all the color of rust isn't white. What you probably have is a stove that someone used enamel paint over the rust and didn't use the proper primer, so the rust is coming thru.

First sand the area down properly and apply the proper primer and paint over it. Your local hardware store should carry the proper paints for this purpose. The paints usually come in some pots that look like tester pots and it will indicate clearly the uses.
