Can a town charge for utilities not hooked up? |
Can a town charge for utilities not hooked up? I don't think they can if there is completely no water able to be run into your house. However, I think they can if you just turn it off. They can if it is a general fee that is spread out over everyone. If your name is on a utility bill for any dwelling, you are subject to those fees. If they're in your name & you're just not using them. they can charge you a basic fee. I turned my water off for 2 wks.(while vacationing) one time & still had to pay for 2000 gallons because there was an ordinance saying I had to. Guess it just depends on where you live. |
