I suppose you are talking about the ULIP schemes of Insurance companies. It is in fact not a three years deposit scheme.In this schem you will have to invest for atleast 3 years to redeem your money. ULIPs are a mix of insurance and investment.

Hi, you can invest in mutual funds. It doesn't have any lockin period. You can stay invested for 3 years and and withdraw thereafter. If you want to save tax then you can invest in equity linked saving schemes which has a lock in period of 3 years.
