I lost my pan card.Shall I file an fir or directly apply for duplicate card? Can anyone misuse my pan card?

I lost my pan card.I am in a dilemma whether to file an FIR in police station or directly apply for duplicate card without filing an FIR? Is there any chance that someone can misuse my pan card which is lost? Please help me what to do?

No need to file a FIR in the police station. It is just written in the application form. But in practice they are not asking for FIR. So apply directly for a duplicate PAN.

Regarding misuse of PAN card. It is not easy to misuse your PAN. It contains your photo, your name, date of birth and your signature. Forget about this.

How to apply for a Duplicate Card:

Applying for a duplicate PAN card is just like applying for a new pan card. You have to pay a fee of Rs.65/-+S.C (Total about Rs.75/-) address proof, photo etc., You have to fill the form carefully like you have filled when you have obtained the PAN number. Those are your PAN number, your name, your fathers name and your date of birth. If any of them mismatch, again they will refer the same to you and by this way the card issue will be delayed. Change in address and income tax ward is acceptable. If you have any drought, then ask the NSDL or UTIISL officials for details for your PAN card, and then fill all the details in the form.

For a duplicate PAN you can contact any of the NSDL or UTIISL agents. There are many people dealing in it. You can trace them through the below web link and can go ahead.
