What happened to Hilo Hattie?

Back on July 27, I placed a web order with Hilo Hattie for some clothes. The next thing I knew, my credit card company was on the phone telling me my credit card had been used fraudulently somewhere in England. Hilo Hattie's web site went down around the same time and is still not back up. If you go to http://www.hilohattie.com/ they claim they're doing scheduled maintenance. This seems unlikely since they've been down for well over a week now. I just tried phoning them, and after about 15 minutes on hold, got sent to voice mail. So the web site is down and no one answers the phone. Does anyone know what's happened to Hilo Hattie?

I just received a return phone call from Hilo Hattie. They're still in business, but they had a catastrophic computer crash. They are working on paper only at this point. (Ugh.)

The person with whom I spoke seemed surprised to hear my credit card had been compromised, so perhaps it was just a coincidence. Anyway, thanks for the responses.

Did you try the email on the website? customer-service@hilohattie.com Have you tried to call one of their stores directly and see if they can help- or give you some answers? How about the BBB in that area?
I know that it's got stores around the country and have been around for a long time. I hope you get a response- keep trying-

Another idea is to contact the local Hilo, Hawaii paper and see if there is a way to ask on that website, or search for info.

Me again- I registered onto their readers forum and asked the question. I will let you know if I get a response. Or you can check yourself- it's the Hawaii Tribune Herald in Hilo. I have family there and know the area.

My credit card information was stolen the same week that the site went down. I assume it was taken from the HH website since that is the only online site I purchase from. I wish HH would have informed it's customers of a potential compromise. Hopefully the new site is more secure! Report It

Bummer.
I can't believe they have gone out of business.
My guess is that their web site has been seriously compromised and customer data has been stolen, maybe including yours?
Hope that's not what happened, but it does seem suspicious that their web site would go down about the same time as your credit card being used.
