What is the best way to go, if a person that is a 22 year old male wanting to get into the Medical Field? |
What advice would you give? What opportunities are avalible? What organazations are out there to help? And in closing what and how can this all be possible? Take the fast track, I can have you taking care of patients within a few months. Go visit your local volunteer fire and rescue department. Most of them are usually understaffed. They usually pay for training to become an EMT. Classes are usually held in the county you live in and are once or twice per week for 3 months. After being certified you will volunteer to work one night every 5 to 7 days at the volunteer fire department. You will be with experienced EMT's manning the ambulance. From there you can get a job in the ER of your local hospital. From there you can pursue additional training. its possible! Enroll in a community college near your home, decide on what career you want to persue (such as nursing, dental hygiene, radiology, physical therapy assistant, nuclear medicene technologist, respirtory therapist, sonographer.. these are all 2 yr degrees and most pay really well once out of school!) , then take the prerequisite classes so you can apply for the program you want to enter. Apply for FAFSA (government aid) to try to get scholarships and grants from the government. Most people qualify for some, if not all, of their schooling to be paid. There are also organizations out there who help minorities in their field with scholarships and stuff (you'd be considered a minority in the nursing field since most are women... and if you are interested in that field, I commend you! Its a very respectible job!) Once you have finished your schooling, you will take exams to qualify you for licensure for your profession. Then, all you have to do is find a job! |
