What is the difference between STANDING ORDERS and SCOPE OF PRACTICE in the medical field?

I am a medical Assistant and I am taking a huge test to be qualified to apply for the job. But I am really confuesed with this question. Any help would be appreciated.

Standing orders are specific orders you are given for any patient who fits the criteria for action, and you do not need to contact a physician for an order. For example, it is a common standing order in nursing to be able to give Tylenol to a patient who has a headache.

Scope of Practice refers to what you are legally allowed and not allowed to do as a Medical Assistant - legally you are allowed to take vital signs, but are you legally allowed to interpret whether they need an IV push of blood pressure medication? You shouldn't - that's a nursing function, not a MA function. Are you allowed to chart on a patient? Are you allowed to delegate tasks to other assistive personel? Are you allowed to perform medical treatments such as wound care, or apply oxygen, or provide patient education? Prescribing medications is outside your scope of practice, for example.

Hope that helps.
