I am working on my Masters in Nursing, but instead......? |
of becoming a nurse practitioner I'm thinking about changing to nursing administration/business or a masters in nursing education. Does anyone out there have a Masters in nursing and what would you recommend? What are you looking for in your career? I have a BSN - things just didn't work out for me to go back for the MSN. But I am pretty sure I would want to get the NP, if I were to go back. I know my calling is as a clinician. I could see education (though as Jill said, it is not so well compensated), but I know in my bones that administration or business is NOT my thing. So you just have to reflect on where you want your career to take you. I started working on some pre-reqs for my masters and was intending on being a NNP, however recently I have decided that perhaps Nursing Education is the route for me. I have had too much stress lately and I am starting to burn out on patient care. I have always had a passion for education and was a tutor when I did my undergrad and really enjoyed it. I know educators don't make good money, but that's not really my top priority. |
