How many people are in jobs they hate because they want to keep their health insurance?

and how many seniors refuse to move because they cant risk relocating to an area where the medical services will compromise their physical well being?.......

answer---tens of millions

the system is broken

This is an excellent question (the first part, anyway), and helps to demonstrate how really faulty it is to tie health insurance to one's job.

I don't get my health insurance thru my job, so it's not an issue for me. But for someone to feel that they must stay in a job for which they are not well-suited, just because of the health insurance, is mega-lame [as Eric Cartman might say.]

Yes, I agree that this is one element of a system that could be called "broken."
I would say a large percentage of people work a job they hate because of health insurance and the funny part about it all is the health insurance typically is not that great. However, something is better than nothing. Maybe if this country had universal health care people would not be so obligated to working a job they hate.
The answer to this question depends on who you are asking. A twenty something who does not care or a thirty something with some responsibilities or a 40 to 50 somebody. The reason why I phrase it this way is because people have different views on what's important to them. Myself on the other hand refuse to work for a company that I don't like. I will not be able to give good quality work if I am not happy, then I will really need good health insurance to deal with all the psychological problems that comes for working at a job I hate. At thirty something self preservation is the key. These companies do not care about the peons on the assembly line as long as the product keeps moving. We are replaceable commodity . Take care of your self so you won't need to settle for B.S. on the job
