What programs/groups can help me volunteer overseas as a EMT?

i'm really interested in volunteering over seas, i'm currently working towards my emt-b license. and should have it by the end of june. i'd like to volunteer during the summer while school is not in session

i looked into the peace corps, but they only offer 27 month rotations. im lookin for something that allows the option of just a few weeks to a few months, not a year or more.

does anyone know of any? where i can put my medical skills to use? as opposed to just going there without any, and end up teaching or something???

i'd like to go overseas specificily to help out medical-wise

I'd contact local churches. So many do medical missions and your skills would be welcomed. Especially if you'd consider Mexico, not overseas, I am confident you could find one. I'd start with the Methodists and Catholics as they seem to be the two most active in such work.

The competition is fierce and an EMT might not really be what they're looking for, but WHO has such a program--filing deadlines coming up soon:

There probably is a university somewhere near you. They should have some kind of "study abroad" office and you could ask them what they're aware of.

There are other programs out there. Pretty much you will be PAYING to do this work--you pay for your transportation, lodgings, food--and for some programs, you pay to be a volunteer. Don't know if anyone's told you that or not. Not saying it's not worth it, but students usually aren't rolling in funds.

Good luck.
