Any one ever take a Phlebotomy course? Did it entail a lot of studying or text reading?

I'm taking a Phlebotomy course next semester, as well as my next load of A&P. I'm wondering if a Phleb class is usually just hands on practice, or if there is still a lot of reading to go over?

Mostly a little bit of anatomy and physiology. Not a lot of study involved as it's more a hands on skill than a mind skill...
Most of the time will be spent doing clinical practice. This is usually done on each other with your class mates.

iam a medical assistant who to a phlebotomy class to work for the red cross while going to school the phlebotomy classes have some book work but the majority of it is hands on people dont want some inexperienced sticking a needle in there arm

When I went to school for a Medical Assistant I also got certified in that area---- It was more hands on where I went to school. There was light reading in the general area of what white/red blood cells are made of and what they do-- slight reading on what "vile" to put them in. but the most of it is hands on blood drawing! (for my school that is)

My wife worked as a phlebotomist for several years. She took a few hours of training (which included sticking her classmates) and then she went right onto patients.
