Help with a nursing resume and cover letter? |
I have been a legal assitant for the past 5 years and I have a BS in Telecommunications. I recently went back to school and now have my BS in Nursing. Can someone please help me with my new "nursing" resume and cover letter. I'm not sure how to blend my non-nursing experience with my new nursing objective. True, your education alone will open many doors for you in nursing. With the nursing shortage, you will have no difficulty in securing employment. Having worked in nursing administration for a number of years, I would encourage you to use your previous work history to demonstrate character traits and skills that are necessary in nursing, such as a strong work ethic, conflict resolution and public relations skills. Nurses who have little to no work experience cannot demonstrate these qualities, and this may put you at an advantage in cases where all else is equal. You may wish to integrate these into your objective statement. Welcome to nursing! I hope that you find this helpful. I wouldn't worry about blending anything. You have education which is pertinent and a legit work history. It is the NORM to switch careers. Nurses are in high demand and with a BSN, even if they need something at an administrative level, you've got the ed they'll require. |
