Help with a nursing resume and cover letter?

I have been a legal assitant for the past 5 years and I have a BS in Telecommunications. I recently went back to school and now have my BS in Nursing. Can someone please help me with my new "nursing" resume and cover letter. I'm not sure how to blend my non-nursing experience with my new nursing objective.

True, your education alone will open many doors for you in nursing. With the nursing shortage, you will have no difficulty in securing employment. Having worked in nursing administration for a number of years, I would encourage you to use your previous work history to demonstrate character traits and skills that are necessary in nursing, such as a strong work ethic, conflict resolution and public relations skills. Nurses who have little to no work experience cannot demonstrate these qualities, and this may put you at an advantage in cases where all else is equal. You may wish to integrate these into your objective statement. Welcome to nursing! I hope that you find this helpful.

I wouldn't worry about blending anything. You have education which is pertinent and a legit work history. It is the NORM to switch careers. Nurses are in high demand and with a BSN, even if they need something at an administrative level, you've got the ed they'll require.

Something made you switch to nursing and be able to complete the degree, which is one of the more difficult to earn and possibly the most versatile in existence. So go for your dream nursing job and apply for anything reasonable. (If you wanted to teach, you'd need an MSN at least and some real experience, but you could work on getting the experience and degree. If you want to be a hospital RN and work with kids or something, push for a peds assignment.)

As the most recent anything goes first (ed and experience) you'll be presenting as a nurse. If you've got recommendations from instructors or such, I'd get those lined up ASAP and if there's a particularly strong one, take it with you on any interviews.

Your skills are in demand. I don't think you'll have any problems so long as you meet the experience level for any position you apply for.

Congrats and best of luck.
