I need a grant quickly to pay back $40,000 to med school...I quit to start a non-profit organization.?

I am starting a non-profit organization. The only problem is that I finished a year of medical school before I started the non-profit. Is there any way to get money to pay back the medical school in the next 3 months?? thanks for ANY advice.

I write grants for a living and am sorry to tell you that your are probably out of luck of getting a grant after you dropped out. Although you could probably talk to the company you got your school loan through for a extension until you start making more, usually they will give you a 5 year decrease in payment. Make sure you do not avoid them, because you can never get rid of school loans.
However you may be able to get a grant to start up your non profit. Here is a "how to" on how to find a grant: http://www.ehow.com/how_2223269_easily-a...

I don't think anyone will give a grant to a dropout. Typically, grants are for people in need that are trying to attend college. I would suggest tying to get a bank loan. However, it will probably be difficult if you have no verifiable work history, and you're just starting a nonprofit. Give a try and hope for the best.

Happy Saturday,
Here's a blurb from my fall e-zine:

From the Chronicle of Philanthropy:
Congress Forgives Student-Loan Debt for Some

"Some charity workers would be able to get their student-loan debt forgiven under legislation that was adopted by both houses of Congress on Friday. The provision 鈥?part of a package of measures to cut subsidies to student lenders and shift the money into student-aid programs 鈥?would allow borrowers to erase their loan balances after 10 years of payments if they have worked during that time in a 'public service' job. 'Public service' is defined to include employees of nonprofit legal-advocacy groups and organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt charities. It also covers government employees, public-school teachers, law-enforcement officials, and public-health workers." For more info go to:http://philanthropy.com/news/updates/ind...

If you need support with your nonprofit management, you may go to my website and sign up for a complimentary subscription of that e-zine or check out my webinars/teleseminars.
Best of luck,
Kayte
