Anyone have advice on applying for an Americorps/VISTA job?

I applied for a job at a non-profit last year, but didn't get hired. Well, I got a letter from them last week saying they're recruiting VISTA volunteers to start working there this summer. The letter said that if I am interested, I should contact this particular person who works there.

I would LOVE to work for this organization, even as a VISTA volunteer. However, I've emailed and called their contact person, and she hasn't returned either of my messages. Should I just send her a resume?? Or should I go through the process of applying through the VISTA/Americorps web site?? The organization still has my resume, and the process of applying through the VISTA website looks intensely tedious. I have an extensive work history and really don't want to have to completely re-type my resume into the VISTA question and answer format. Plus, I just want THIS job - I don't really want to apply for any other VISTA positions.

Thanks in advance for any info.

From my past experiences in the workforce, I have had to resend in my resume... only because they were an irresponsible company, but I did need the job; so I reluctancly sent it in again... and got hired :-) So maybe it is worth resending it in....
