What type of jobs can I get with a B. A in Latin America Studies?

I am having a hard time attaining information and job opportunities with a BA in Latin America Studies.
Please help me with web pages were I can find careers concerning Latin America Studies.
Thank you.

Many employers have a strong interest in Latin America and in Spanish-speaking employees who have an interest in Hispanic cultures. Graduates from Latin American Area Studies have found jobs with the U.S. Foreign Service or other government agencies and with companies with business interests in Latin America. Many graduates are teachers, from elementary school to college.

That degree seems perfect for a professor or a specialized counselor.

You can get a job at Wal-Mart, McDonalds or K-Mart. Or, you could teach elementry school gym.

Okay scrap the kid games and weird advice. Girlfriend you take your degree seriously. You worked hard to get it and you successfully earned it congradualtions. Now, I assume you speak spanish. You can get a career as a social worker, or with imigrations, depending where in the country you live you can even get a position as a congressional translator in Washington D.C
and still teach language at a community college at the associate of Arts level. You made a very Good choice in your field in fact you can also become a language tutor , by advertising on bulletin bards of super markets just to make a little extra money. Any community center or church or YMCA will let you use there place. Good Luck!

You can work in Spanish, yes? Because if you can't, your degree isn't going to get you very far. What can you actually *do*? What are your skills?

IMO, with just a BA and no work experience, you need to be prepared to start "at the bottom", in administrative and assistant positions. Look in your area for nonprofit organizations that are focused on immigrants or Hispanic culture, for instance. Research them via their web sites and Google searches, then call each and ask if they have any openings and where they advertise such. Do you live in a large city, and are their arts groups that sometimes have events or exhibitions focused on Hispanic culture? If so, research these arts groups and give them a call, attend their events, etc.

Also consider volunteering for such organizations. This will allow them to get to know you and see your skills and abilities (which you haven't named here). It could also lead to leadership experience.

You can also try administrative jobs at any international companies in your area. Again, research will help you know what companies in your area may have offices in Latin America. The Chamber of Commerce could probably help. Get to know those companies through research, then call them about their job openings, etc.

Contact Kelly Services and other temp agencies, so you can get work both to pay the bills and to potentially make contacts that could lead to full-time work later.

Your education isn't over; you need to stay up-to-date on what's happening in Latin America. Read the news about the area regularly.
