Can a German taxpayer have tax deduction for donations done to a foreigner charitable organisation?

I'd like to know if it's possible for a German taxpayer to deduct from tax donations that he did to a foreigner charitable organization (no profit) , for example from Italy. The organization is regularly registered.
If it's possible, which kind of document will this person need? Is a simple receipt enough?

Thanks for your help!!! :o)

Yes, there s no problem with that. If you don t donate more than 100鈧? year, they often don t even ask for any receipts.

Anyway, the association must be acknowledged as being a non-profit organization so if you donate a lot of money, I d rather check that first at your revenue office.

If they acknowledge them (within the EU, any institution/organization considered as being charitable by the country of origin will normally (!) be acknowledged...but still, I d check that with the revenue office first), a receipt (your name, address etc must be on it!) should be acceptable- preferably in German (or at least in English) as they could ask for an official translation and that is rather expensive.

Personally, if I planned to donate a lot of money, I d ask at the revenue office first. Btw, I think it s lame if people just donate because they can deduce their tax...I never did that but well, I must admit that I never donated thousands of Euros.
