How to get a job in the bar tender industry? |
i took a career placement test and apperently, im suppose to be in the hospitality business.do bar tenders have a good job? if you are one .please tell me about it.thank you!! I am a bar tender, and i love it. I work in a bar/resteraunt, so im also a waitress. Waitress until 9pm, then im a barmaid. For the most part, all the people i work with are nice and friendly, you kind of have to be to work with enibriated customers. We get a laugh by the end of the night, watching customers try to dance, hit on us, or just get chatty. We fool around quite a bit whenever theres a quiet moment, dancing around behind the bar. I am in australia, and the pay rates here are really good, so tipping isnt a custom, but you know the good barmaids by how much extra they go home with at the end of the night. I usually go home with an extra $50-$60 at the end of the night, on top of my $100 nightly income. A bar tender is also in the entertainment industry, we have to keep the customers happy and coming back to drink here, because they like the atmosphere we provide. Its a good job if you are a naturally outgoing person, but you cant take anything personally, some people are happy drunks, others are sad and yet others again are angry drunks, and you get to see all of them. I got my start by working as a waitress in a licensed resteraunt, serving alcohol as well as food, then i moved to a club, didnt really like the pace there, so im back to a busy hotel/resteraunt, and im happy. Let me first say the salaries are not great , but you can make a decent living off tips. |
