Calling all chefs?? help??

my son is currently at college doing professional cookery!
he will finish his nvq2 this july and has the chance of going back in sept to do another year which is more about management!!
he works weekends in a village pub and they need an extra chef so they have offered for him to do his last year with them instead with the head chef training him up.
I asked if he would get something on paper at the end of it and the girl from the pub said yes he would and he would be asessed by someone every so often!!
my son loves his job and college and just wants to know which is the best way to go????

thankyou

My wife is an NVQ assessor and she says that is correct if the pub is willing to let him continue then he will be assessed by the head chef at the pub and once his paperwork is completed he will then be assessed by an external verifier who in turn will pass him in NVQ management

one step before another
